Laredo web design that brings in customers from both sides of the river

We do Laredo web design for businesses whose customers come from both sides of the bridge, many of whom think in Spanish first. We build a site they can find on Google and read in their own language, so more of them call, book or come in.

What a website is for

Two ways a website pays, and both work in two languages

A website is worth the customers it brings you, and it earns them in two ways. More people find it, and more of the people who land on it pick up the phone or walk in. Lift either one and revenue goes up. Lift both and they multiply.

01Found

More people find you on Google

Every site we build follows Google's own guidance from the day it goes live: quick to load on a phone, clear about what you sell and where you are, and put together so Google can read every page.

In Laredo

Being found includes the search typed in Spanish, from this side of the river and the other.

02Chosen

More of them call or come in

Once someone lands, the page has a few seconds to answer what they came for: do you do this, can they trust you, how do they reach you. We lay out every page on how people decide, so each answer is right where they look.

In Laredo

Being chosen includes being read in the language the customer thinks in. A page nobody has to puzzle over is a page people act on.

Across the river

Some of your customers are searching from Mexico

You know a lot of your customers come from across the river. What you can't see from the counter is them deciding where to go before they cross. Here are a few shopping and hotel searches about Laredo, and how often each is typed in Mexico and in the US every month.

  • outlet laredo

200 searches a month typed in Mexico,

    40 typed in the US

  • hoteles en laredo texas

200 searches a month typed in Mexico,

    150 typed in the US

  • mall del norte laredo

80 searches a month typed in Mexico,

    10 typed in the US

  • tiendas en laredo texas

70 searches a month typed in Mexico,

    0 typed in the US

And the name of the town on its own

laredo texas

5,900 a month in the US

When they search in Spanish, the page that meets them is a page in Spanish about what you sell. An English-only site never gets the chance.

What we build

Spanish pages Google can find, not a translate button

You hear it at the counter every day: most of your customers speak Spanish. The census counts it too. Meeting them on Google takes a real Spanish page for each thing you sell, and that is what we build.

85.9%

of people in Laredo speak Spanish at home, against 13.6% across the US.

Google can show the Spanish page to the Spanish search, Spanish title and all.

For web design Laredo customers can read in their own language, a button isn't enough. It takes three parts.

  1. 01

    Its own web address

Each English page has a Spanish page at an address of its own, such as /es/servicios/, which Google can list by itself.

  2. 02

A Spanish title in the Google result

The blue title and the short line under it are in Spanish, so the person searching sees their language before they ever click.

  3. 03

    A language switch that remembers

One tap moves between English and Spanish on the same page, and the site keeps that choice as they go from page to page.

Who writes the Spanish

Someone fluent. Either a person on your staff who knows how your customers talk, or a professional translator. They write the Spanish or check it line by line. A machine translation never goes live as it came out.

We build everything around those words: the pages, the addresses, the titles and the switch. The Spanish pages go on the same written quote as the English ones, and which of the two writes the words is agreed on the call, before that quote.

What it runs on

Built in Astro, so a second language doesn't double the upkeep

A lot of small-business sites are built on WordPress: a theme, a page builder and a row of plugins on top, each with updates of its own. Add Spanish with a translation plugin and that's one more thing to keep updated, and one more thing every page has to load before your customer reads a word.

One page of your site

In it

  • The page, made ahead of time
  • Your words, photos and prices
  • A switch to the other language

Not in it

  • A theme
  • A page builder
  • A translation plugin
  • Updates waiting on you

The same for the English page and the Spanish one.

We build in Astro instead. Adding Spanish adds pages, not machinery.

Quick to open on any phone

Astro makes each page ahead of time, the English one and the Spanish one, as a plain page with nothing extra riding along. A phone has very little to load, so the page comes up quickly, even on a weak signal in the line at the bridge.

Nothing for you to keep up

No theme to update and no plugin to keep in step with the others, in either language. When a price or a photo changes, you change it yourself in a simple editor we set up. That's all the upkeep the site asks of you.

Work we've built

Sites built for more than one kind of customer

Your customers aren't one crowd. One site has to give each kind of person their own clear way in, and fast. These three builds are in Colorado and Texas, in English, and each one does that job for a different mix of people.

For your business, the second crowd may be the shopper from across the river, reading in Spanish. It's the same job: one site, a clear way in for each of them.

Who you'd be trusting

Kyle builds it. Katie keeps it on schedule.

Bullfinch is just the two of us, Kyle and Katie Rutten. There's no sales team and no junior down the hall. The person you meet on the first call is the person who designs and builds your site.

Designs and builds

Kyle Rutten

Kyle designs and builds every page of your site himself. He started making websites when he was 14. He's the one on your first call, and the one making the changes you ask for after it.

Runs the project

Katie Rutten

Katie runs your project from the first call to launch day: the schedule, the account, and what happens next. She keeps more than 30 clients on schedule at once, so you won't be the one chasing us for an update.

We're not in Laredo. Here's how that works.

Calls
On Google Meet, during Laredo's business hours, Central time. You never have to leave the shop.
Every change
Goes up on a preview link first. You open it on your own phone and see it the way a customer will, before any customer does.
The Spanish
Neither of us writes it. A fluent speaker writes or checks every line: someone on your staff, or a professional translator.

Price and your time

What it costs, in English or in both languages

Here's what Laredo web design from us costs: most sites come to between $5,000 and $40,000. If you want the site in Spanish too, that goes on the same written quote as the English, so you see one number for the whole job before you agree to anything.

Most sites

$5,000 to $40,000

  • A written quote within a week of our call, with the scope spelled out
  • You pay for the site, not for hours. Nobody is running a clock.

What moves the number

  1. 01

    How many pages

Each page is written, designed and built, so a page for every service costs more than a short site.

  2. 02

    Booking or payments

Letting customers book a time or pay you on the site is more work, and it shows in the price.

  3. 03

    The Spanish version

A Spanish page for each English one. It sits on the same quote, so the price you sign covers both languages.

How much of your time it takes

A site under ten pages takes four to six weeks to build. Nearly all of that time is ours. Yours is one call and the preview links on your phone. The Spanish also needs a fluent speaker: someone on your staff, which takes their time, or a professional translator, which doesn't. We settle which on the call, before the quote.

  1. 01 The call 30 minutes

    Your part

Talk to Kyle on Google Meet about your business and the people who walk in.

    Our part

Work out what the site needs: the pages, any booking, and the Spanish.

  2. 02 The quote Within a week

    Your part

Read it. Then say yes, or don't.

    Our part

Put every page and the price in writing, with the Spanish version on it if you want one.

  3. 03 The build Four to six weeks

    Your part

Open the preview links we send on your own phone and tell us what to change. Whoever checks your Spanish looks over those pages the same way.

    Our part

Write the English pages, design and build every page in both languages, and put each change on a preview before customers see it.

Short answers

What Laredo owners want to know first

Before you give anyone half an hour, a few things need settling. These are the questions a Laredo owner tends to ask, each with a short, straight answer.

Anything else, ask Kyle on the call
  • Will a new website pay for itself?

That comes down to what one extra customer a week is worth to you. One more a week is 52 a year. Multiply that by what a customer usually spends with you, and set the total next to the price on your written quote. We can't promise a number of new customers. Laredo web design in two languages adds Spanish pages for the searches an English-only site can't meet, at a fixed price you know before you decide.

  • My customers find me on Facebook and by word of mouth. Do I really need a better website?

They still look you up before they call. Someone hears your name from a cousin or sees your post, then searches for you on Google to check your hours, your prices and whether you're the real thing. The website is what they find. If it's English only or hard to use on a phone, some of them stop there and try the next place.

  • Isn't a translate button on my site enough?

No, because Google can't show it to anyone. A translate button only swaps the words in a visitor's browser once they've already landed on your English page. There's no Spanish page behind it, so a customer searching in Spanish has nothing of yours to find.

  • You're not in Laredo. How does that work?

Everything happens on a screen you already have. Calls are on Google Meet in your hours, Central time. Each change shows up first on a preview link you open on your phone, at the counter or at home, and nothing goes live until you've looked at it. So instead of driving to a Laredo web design company down the street, you meet us on a screen.

  • Who writes the Spanish?

Someone fluent, never a machine on its own. That's a person on your staff who already talks with your Spanish-speaking customers, or a professional translator. They write it or check every line. We settle which on the call, before the quote, and the Spanish version goes on the same written quote.

  • Will I lose what Google shows for me now if we move?

Your old links keep working. Before launch we list every address on your current site and point each one at its new page, so someone clicking an old result in Google still lands in the right place. Nobody can promise where Google will rank a page, but the move itself won't leave old links pointing at nothing.

  • How much of my own time will this take?

Your part is a call and some preview links. The call is 30 minutes. We write the English pages from what you send and a short conversation, then send preview links as the pages come together, and you look them over on your phone when it suits you. The Spanish takes a fluent speaker's time on top of that: your staff's, if they write it, or a professional translator's.

Book the call

See your site the way a shopper from across the bridge does

Take 30 minutes on Google Meet with Kyle, who would design and build your site himself. Every Laredo web design job we take on starts with this call.

  • On the call

We search for what you sell in English and in Spanish, typed the way a customer on either side of the river would type it.

  • On the screen

We look at what they find together: your site, someone else's, or nothing they can read.

  • Within a week

You have a fixed quote in writing. Whether you go ahead is up to you.

Every month your site stays English-only, those Spanish searches go to whoever answers them in Spanish.
