Professional Entertainment. No Scary Clowns. Just Smiles.
Daniel founded Simply Smiles with a specialty in balloon artistry and entertainment, but faced two barriers: First, the outdated website didn't reflect a professional, modern agency. Second, and more damaging, industry-wide "clown stigma" (people genuinely afraid of clowns) meant prospects were self-selecting out before learning what Simply Smiles actually does. The old site also leaned heavily on Daniel's personal brand, making it harder to scale the business beyond one performer.
A complete redesign that removes clown language entirely, repositions the brand as "professional entertainers" and "performers," and shifts focus from Daniel to the team of skilled artists. New pages include: a team member showcase with individual artist bios, a comprehensive services section broken into specific offerings (Balloon Twisting, Face Painting, Combo Artist, The Daniel Experience, Airbrush Tattoos, Party Favors), a full gallery organized by service type, a Clown College educational offering, and a streamlined booking flow featuring their new specialized party-entertainer booking system as the primary CTA.
A site that speaks to decision-makers (parents, event planners, organizations) without triggering the clown fear response, showcases a professional team instead of just one person, and makes booking friction-free. The new booking system reduces admin time and increases conversions by letting clients self-serve through options and payment.
Built to shift perception, not just look pretty.
Seven pages. One unified brand voice.
Unfortunately while I call myself a clown, I have to be conservative with actually using that phrase because a bunch of people bounce right off the idea because it's so trendy to 'hate clowns' and 'clowns are scary' stuff. Bullfinch understood that and built a site that positions us as professional entertainers instead. The new booking system is also saving me hours every week.
Removed stigma. Shifted to team. Made booking effortless.
We rebranded without rebranding.
Instead of a logo overhaul, we shifted language and positioning. "Clown services" became "professional entertainment." "Daniel the Clown" became "The Daniel Experience." We removed all clown imagery and face paint references, replacing them with photos of smiling kids and skilled artists at work. The message: "We're professional entertainers who paint faces, not ourselves."
We built the booking system into the CTA strategy.
Daniel's new specialized booking system wasn't just a backend tool—it became the hero of the site. Every page funnels to it. The design makes self-serve booking the path of least resistance, reducing phone objections and cutting Daniel's admin time from hours per booking to minutes.
We organized by service, not by personality.
Old site: "Meet Daniel." New site: "Choose your service, pick your artist, lock in your booking." This shift lets Simply Smiles scale beyond one person and makes parents comfortable that any team member can deliver the same quality experience.
Party planning starts on a phone. Booking completes it.
