Plano web design that gets you picked

This is Plano web design for businesses whose customers look at three or four options before they call one. We build your site to show up when they search, and to be the one they call.

See the work

How your customers decide

In Plano, nobody's short of options

Plano is settled and well-off: about 293,000 people, with a median household income around $112,000 (US Census). Whatever you sell, someone else sells it a short drive away, so most of your growth comes from winning people who already have a choice. Up the road, where so many households are raising kids, our page on web design in Frisco is about the parent doing the choosing.

And they choose on a phone, quickly. They open a few sites side by side and start closing tabs. The one that says what you do, what it costs or what happens next, and why to trust you is still open when they're ready to call. In Round Rock, the tab beside yours is often a national franchise, which is the side-by-side our page on Round Rock web design is about.

1 of 4 still open

  1. Dentist A: closed, still loading
  2. Dentist B: closed, no price anywhere
  3. Dentist C: closed, no number to tap
  4. Dentist D: still open, with a call button

One gets the call. The other three never hear about it.

The money side

A website pays you back in two ways

Set aside how it looks for a moment. A website is worth what it brings in, and it brings in money from two places.

One

Get found

When people nearby search for what you do, yours is one of the sites they open. More of the right ones arrive, and each is a customer you'd otherwise never have had a shot at.

Two

Get picked

Of the people who land, more choose you and pick up the phone. The visits you already get turn into more booked work.

Each one raises what the other is worth. Extra visitors don't pay if they leave for someone else, and a site that wins every comparison can't win the ones it never shows up in.

So a site built for both from the first day earns more than a pretty site, or a well-ranked one, ever does alone.

The same page, twice

One page, read by two audiences

Most Plano website design gets judged on looks alone. But every page gets read twice: once by your customer, deciding whether to call, and once by Google, deciding whether to show you to them at all.

Gets you picked

What your customer sees

A headline that answers their question. A price range or the next step, before they have to ask. Proof beside the button, and a number a thumb can tap. There's a name for this, conversion psychology, and all it means is giving people their answer first and the button right after.

Gets you found

What Google reads

A page for each service people search for. Headings that say plainly what each part covers. Behind the scenes, labels that tell Google what you are, what you sell and where. And Google's report on how people find you, connected the day you launch. None of it is guesswork: Google publishes its own best practices for how sites should be built, and we follow them to the letter.

Both go into every page from the first build. You don't have to pick one.

What it's built on

Built in Astro, without the WordPress upkeep

Most business websites run on WordPress, and plenty do fine on it. We build in Astro instead: every page is put together before anyone visits, then sent to the phone as plain, light code.

  1. 01 The platform

Why not just use WordPress or Wix?

    Less to keep up with.

Those platforms are made to suit every kind of site at once, so they come with plugins and themes that each need updating or working around. An Astro site holds your pages and nothing else: nothing to patch, no theme to fight, nothing slowing it down on a phone.

  2. 02 Day-to-day changes

Will I need a developer every time something changes?

    No.

You and your staff change the words and add new pages yourselves. We set you up with a login to an admin panel, where each page's words and photos sit in plain labelled fields, in the order they appear on the page: change one, save it, no code. Astro is only what the site is built on underneath; you never have to touch it. A new service, a new hire, a new offer: you put it up without a ticket or an invoice. Nothing on the site changes unless someone on your side changes it.

  3. 03 Your rankings

Will switching cost me my place on Google?

Not when the move is planned.

Coming off WordPress, Wix or Squarespace, we move your site over page by page. Before launch, every old address is redirected to its new page, so anyone following an old link, Google included, lands in the right place, and the site keeps what it has already earned.

Two recent builds

Sites for people who compare before they call

Neither of these is in Plano. Both are in Colorado, one in Denver and one in Longmont. What they share with a practice or firm here is the customer: someone with a lot riding on the choice, reading carefully on a phone before they reach out. The phone score under each comes from Lighthouse, Google's 0–100 test of how a page does on a phone.

Family law · Denver, Colorado

KM Law

Most of the firm's first contact happens on a phone, late at night, from someone facing a divorce or a custody fight. So the site has ten pages, each written for one specific reader, and that person finds the page about their situation without digging.

Lighthouse Therapeutics

Four services for two very different readers: parents looking for help for a child, and adults looking for help for themselves. Parents research this at 11pm on a phone, so the site is organized for each of them to find their own path. Two old websites became one.

Behind the work

The two people who'd build it

Bullfinch is a two-person web design studio run by Kyle and Katie Rutten. We work remotely with businesses in several states, and it's just the two of us, so you never meet anyone on a call who won't be working on your site.

Kyle Rutten, web designer and developer, working at a laptop

Designer and developer

Kyle Rutten

Kyle designs and builds every page himself, so the person who hears on the call what your customers ask is the one deciding what your homepage answers first.

Katie Rutten, project lead, working at a laptop

Katie runs the project, the schedule and the account. Questions about dates, reviews or anything else on the account go to her, and she answers them herself.

No account managers. No handoffs.

What you tell us on the call doesn't get relayed to someone you'll never meet. The same two people carry it from the first conversation to launch.

Price and timeline

What a Plano site from us costs, and how it goes

A build runs

$5,000 to $40,000

Affordable, to us, means it earns back more than it costs. It doesn't mean the cheapest quote you'll get.

What moves it

  • How many pages Each service you sell usually gets its own.
  • Integrations Booking, payments, or forms that feed your own systems.
  • SEO or Google Ads Whether either one comes with the build.

How it goes

  1. A 30-minute call

On Google Meet, about your business and the customers you want more of.

  2. A quote in writing within a week

Fixed scope: the pages, what they connect to and the price, set down before anything starts. No hourly meter.

  3. The build, on a preview link

You click through the real site as it comes together and tell us what to change.

  4. Launch, with tracking on

Call and form tracking go live with the site, and Google's report on how people find you is connected, so you can see what it brings in.

Time to launch
A site of up to nine pages goes live in four to six weeks. Anything larger runs 60 to 90 days.
Your time
The call and a few reviews. We do the rest.
What you own
The domain, the code and the hosting.

Before you book

What Plano owners ask us first

Five questions that tend to come up before the call, each answered straight.

Wouldn't a Plano web design company down the road be easier to work with?

Distance doesn't change how the work gets done. We work remotely: calls happen on Google Meet, and every stage of the build sits on a link you can open from the office or your phone and click through when it suits you. What your site needs is someone who knows why your customers pick you, and a Plano web designer would learn that the same way we do: by asking you. We ask on the call.

Most of our work comes from referrals. Does the site still matter?

Yes. A referral gives people your name, and they still look you up before they call. Your site is the first thing of yours they see, and it either backs up what their friend said or gives them a reason to keep looking. When it loses them, you never find out there was a referral.

Can my front desk change our hours, prices and photos without calling you?

Yes. The words, photos and pages are yours to edit, so holiday hours or a new price go up when your staff put them up, not when we get to it.

Does SEO or Google Ads come with the site?

If you want them to. Every site we build follows Google's best practices from launch. For more help getting found, SEO and Google Ads are offered alongside the build, and we'll talk on the call about whether either is worth it for your business. Whatever you add goes into the same quote.

If we decide to go ahead, how soon can you start?

The build starts when you approve the quote, which reaches you in writing within a week of the call. We agree the exact start date on the call itself, around your calendar and ours. From your yes, a site of nine pages or fewer takes four to six weeks, and a bigger build 60 to 90 days.

Something else on your mind? Bring it to the call.

One call to start

Let's talk about your Plano website

Every week your site loses the side-by-side is a week those customers call someone else.

They were already looking for what you sell. Good Plano web design starts with those customers: who they are, and why they'd pick you over the next tab. That's what the call is for.

Thirty minutes on Google Meet with Kyle, who'd design and build your site, talking through:

  • What you sell, and which of it you want more of
  • Who you sell to, and who they weigh you against
  • What your site would need to win more of them

Within a week you have a fixed-scope quote in writing. Then the decision is yours.
